learn guitar music notes
Can you help me learn how to play Music Notes on a Guitar?

I need help learning how to read notes and play them on a guitar. My book just tells me the ‘lines’ and the ’spaces’ and rhythm notation. I’m on a lesson that deals with the ‘G’ chord. It tells me where to place my finger and where to strum to get ‘G’, then it just tells me to read the music notes and play.

The song is ‘Are You Sleeping?’It’s kind of embarrassing for someone like me to be playing kiddish songs, but I have to start somewhere.

In the ‘G’ chord,
Let’s say that a quarter-note, with the tale facing up, is on the ‘G’ line, where would I place my fingers? The ‘A’ space? The ‘B’ line with the tale facing down? Will I have to strum any differently or in a different location? The book just says to strum downwards.

What’s the difference between the notes when the tale faces up or down or when it has a little squiggly thing on it? How will that dictate the position of my fingers on the guitar and play?

Thank you, your help is greatly Greatly appreciated :-)
