Originally from New York City, Bonamassa had experience playing the guitar starting from when he was just the tender age of four years old. It might have been too early of an age to realize that this was too be his calling, but only a few years later he began to take his talent more seriously and at the age of 13 he was being mentored by country virtuoso Danny Gatton.
His collection of guitars has grown substantially over the years and now he boasts over 215 in the collection. Not just someone who stares lovingly at his prized collection, Bonamassa makes sure to play each of his guitars for his concerts and his records. Some of his models include a 2004 Gigliotti ‘JB’ Telecaster, a 1965 Fender Stratocaster and various Les Paul models.
Some of his greatest influences include: Eric Clapton, Steve Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Jimmy Page and Danny Gatton. It’s obvious by the sound of his playing that he has learned a lot from this masters of music and has evolved into a musician with a unique style all his own.
His first solo album was released in 2000 and was titled “A New Day Yesterday,” and was produced by the legendary Tom Dowd. He has since released several other records and continues to tour to support all of his recent efforts. Many of his songs have appeared on the Billboard Blues Chart and are considered favorites among blues fans across the globe. Let the music come in.
