You’d get a higher tone once you’d push the lower pitch and pushing the higher pitch equals to a lower tone.

When playing it, the instrument should be held by the player’s neck with the thumb and forefinger of the left hand. If you get to use it using the left shoulder, it must be supported really well to be able to produce consistency in the sound.
